Common questions
What do the letters say?
A one-page formal notification: your previous and new name, the reason and date, a request to update all records and confirm in writing, and a note that a certified copy of your marriage certificate is enclosed. Each letter is addressed to one recipient type and has a blank for the account or reference number.
Do I have to send a letter, or can I do it online?
Many providers now accept a scan through their app or website — use that where it exists. The letter is for the ones that don't, and for anything that wants a signed instruction with a certified copy (mortgage lenders, pensions, professional bodies).
Where does my information go?
Nowhere. The letters are generated in your browser with pdf-lib and downloaded directly; your names and address are never sent to a server. The only thing we receive is your email address.
Should I send the original certificate?
No — a certified copy. Keep the original, and order two or three certified copies so several letters can go out at once.
